The Keizai Koho Center's innovative Think Tank Program brings together scholars from renowned US institutions and Japanese researchers and policymakers.

From January 28-February 1, 2008, the Keizai Koho Center hosted five scholars from leading U.S. think tanks on a study trip focused on climate change and energy challenges.  Participants included Sarah Ladislaw, Energy and National Security Program Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Jason Bordoff, Policy Director, Hamilton Project, Brookings Institution, James Bartis, Senior Policy Researcher, RAND Corporation, Peter Ogden, Senior National Security and International Policy Analyst at the Center for American Progress, and Paul Saunders, Executive Director at the Nixon Center.  The group met with leaders in business, government and academia to exchange views.  At the end of the program, they participated in a symposium focused on different policy options the United States is considering to meet the challenges of climate change and energy issues.

From March 12-16, 2007, Keizai Koho Center hosted Dr. Wing Thye Woo, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, on a study exchange focused on regional economic integration.  In Japan, Dr. Woo met with business leaders, government officials, and senior academics to exchange views. On March 16, he participated in a seminar titled "Economic Integration in East Asia and Roles of Japan, U.S. and China;" other speakers included Dr. Fukunari Kimura of Keio University and Dr. Hiroshi Nakanishi of Kyoto University.

The November 2005 Think Tank program included Dr. Albert Keidel of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Dr. Jim Dorn of the Cato Institute, Derek Mitchell of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Dr. Eric Heginbotham of the Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Evan Madeiros of Rand, and Dr. Patrick Cronin, currently with the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London.

Led by Dr. Arthur Alexander, the KKC December 13-17 2004 think tank program brought together Dr. William Niskanen, Chairman of the CATO Institute; Dr. T.J. Pempel, Professor of the University of California at Berkeley, Dr. Elizabeth Economy, a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Banning Garrett, Director of  the Atlantic Council's Asia Program, and Dr. Saadia Pekkanen, Professor at the University of Washington in Seattle.
